Directions and When Painting Why They Are Important

Painting we love it and poor our hearts into a piece of furniture or wall and it turns out horrible.
I have taken classes, bought books and research everything online. I took a new paint class on Plaster Paints. The person teaching this class was more concerned with painting his piece of furniture than teaching the class. I assumed the problem was with the paint. So I whine loudly! Plaster paints sent me new paint, more wax and directions. My first lesson before you take a class ask them what they are teaching. How much work is involved, how much experience do they have and have they taught classes before. Why the person teaching the class had a popular business. And even through they were talented they knew nothing about teaching a class. So I left frustrated. Following her directions I pulled out my practice piece. Stripped a few weeks earlier it already had several coats of paint on it. It came out prefect. And it is my practice piece. Or was my practice piece. I have now many classes under my belt and many books from many people.
Reading directions is a basic understanding if the paint. Why and when to wax, when to sand down, prime or just paint it. How to seal your piece. When I take classes most of the teachers make their self available later for trouble shooting. The classes I have taken some are basic and you do everything in class the teacher works with you not on their piece. I have taken classes and taken in large pieces the teacher only has a few students so she
Or he can work directly with you and pay attention to you. Books also
Anne Sloan gives you a good understanding of her paint. She is a artist and also shows you how to use the color wheel. The color wheel
Is very important. But getting in there and making mistakes you learn.
Making your own paint to start is a great way to become interested in art. I know some people are totally against this but I'm not. I think it makes your curious and most will try many different things if they make their own paint. I do suggest you make yours green. Reading directions on a addictive I was going to ad to paint had cancer causing agents in it. I was going to put it on a table to make it leathery looking. I put it down. Reading will improve your work. If you re-sell
Your pieces I feel we have a responsibility to make sure the paint is safe for everyone.

I was wondering if you sell your pieces? I am just a novice in the selling area, so just starting out and just curious how others go about it and their pricing ideas. Thank you and great work! :)

Yes I do and honestly I thought I had answered your question in a post earlier. I price my area. There are different ways to price. One is flea markets they bring higher prices. I sell a lot through flea markets. The other is a garage sale online. They sale cheaper and people are looking for a bargain but this is a real good way to start. I also do shows and I price higher then I do at flea markets. People will barter, and it is kind of like a flea market you are paying for space and it is high but I have had wonderful luck at these sales.
