Turning a door into a headboard

I have a wonderful old door that I want to turn into a headboard for my bed. I want a weathered look and have been searching Pinterest for ideas. Does anyone have great ideas or thoughts on technique?

If the door has panels, they can be upholstered to your colors, If it's plain but you just want to dress it up use a chalk paint, (any brand) paint and sand to age or strip and stain. Everything depends on the door and the look of the rest of the room also.
