DIY: Paint Your Refrigerator
You can do it by washing it down with warm soap and water with a Sponge/Scrub pad, which has the little scrubbing side to get it clean and oil free. Then get some Rust-oleum Spray can Primer, go with their directions, (you will need to get it contained in a tent affair to prevent it from spraying on your floor/furniture, etc. or do it outside..
Then get some Rust-oleum white paint you prefer for which shade. Spray it with that as it directs. You should try to reomve your rubber door insulation/closures, in order to keep the paint from covering them, but still getting the inside edges as well as sides of the doors, etc.
You can paint anything if you use a shellac-based primer (oil based.) Often these are sold in spray paint cans which makes it a little easier for cleanup. Just let it cure for a certain time (about a week) and it should allow you to paint latex over the top. I've tried lots of other kinds of paint, including chalk paint but shellac-based primer (like Zinsser 1-2-3) is guaranteed to work.
Rust-Oleum is about the best to paint metal with. It has an etcher in it, also a rust inhibitor.
