Easy DIY Christmas Tree Sign

I try not to spend much money on holiday decorations since we can only have them out for a few short weeks. However, I do love Christmas decorating so I came up with an inexpensive idea for some Christmas decor this year.
I picked up a canvas (on sale and with a coupon!) at the craft store and used some number stencils to make subway-style Christmas art. First I traced out a tree shape onto the canvas and then taped it off with painters tape. Then I painted the tree area in with black chalkboard paint.
Once that was dry, I used my number stencils and a pencil to trace those onto the tree. I wasn't sure which pattern exactly I was going to do. I knew I wanted it to be a bit random, like subway art. That is why I used a pencil first. If I didn't like an area, I would just erase it and start over.
Once I had a finished pattern that I liked, I colored it in with a chalkboard marker. I used a gold foil marker on the number 25 so that it would stand out.

Lastly, I used the same gold foil marker to outline the entire tree to give it a more finished look.
