Patio resurfacing can revive your outdoor living area. If you want a new patio but your existing patio is structurally sound, then consider resurfacing it instead of spending the money to rip it out and replace it.
Polymer modified concrete toppings are becoming more common for residential use. These toppings can have the strength and durability of regular concrete and can withstand the harshest climates.

In the past, most contractors were a bit leery about resurfacing because of the many failures. But the availability of better products has made resurfacing promising alternative for fixing ugly or damaged patios.
So, therefore, pavers are almost double the cost of a professionally installed polymer overlay. (To be clear, this is what resurfacing overlay's cost ($3-4psf) and this price is not reflective of stamped overlay concrete whose costs run a dollar or two higher ($5+)depending on complexity of the stamping procedures). Pavers definetly have their place as they completely eradicate cracking issues seen in concrete slabs and maintain a good wear profile. How often do you recommend resealing

paver overlays? Most sealers on the polymer resurfacing installations should be re-sealed every 3-5 years. Another good aspect of pavers is that unlike most overlays, they don't have delamination issues which plague about half of the stamped concrete overlay installations we have seen.
there is no need to seal pavers, it up to the persons likes or dislikes, sealer takes away the natural look, when you say polymer overlay what are you referring to, because I had 6 overlay companies out to my house for estimates on my concrete overlay and the cheapest was 4 bucks and that was just smith stain, some of the overlay systems qoutes were over 9 bucks
by the way there is 2 type of concrete, cracked concrete and concrete that has not cracked yet, all polymer and troweled overlays will crack with the concrete, pavers will not
A hand troweled overlay runs in the $3.50 range, and your right, the likelyhood of the cracks returning is always prevelent. I mentioned this in my previous post. If the surface has been spalling, its an inexpensive alternative to alleviate the chipping , yet the cracks may return. I've found clients selecting either based more on budget than anything. When you have 5000 sqft of chipping concrete surfaces, $17,500 is a lot of savings over pavers which provide the advantage of not showing future cracks.
