HVAC supply & return are both blowing heat

We have dual zone forced air system. No work has been done on the system or my house in general recently, but this week I noticed that hot air is blowing from both the supply and return grilles when I turn the heat on. (Yes, I'm sure it's blowing.)
Since nobody has changed the ductwork recently, is this a damper issue?

Sounds like it is a damper issue. Damper is not opening and not letting the air out the supply so the air is forced out the returns.

As a remote but simple check, see if the inlet filter is clogged. It can force the system to cycle back on itself. Are you sure that the a/c part of the system is working at all?

sounds like a damper but could be the tstat depending where you live it can fail to full heat...if there are fire dampers one could be closed, until you resolve it disconnect the ac side by breaker or disconnect
