How much water is left in the barrels? If it's only about half a gallon or less, you could put in an absorbent towel, and wring it out a couple of times till only a small amount of water is left. I'm surprised there's no valve on the bottom of the barrel.
Mine empty if I turn them upside down.
Please describe the barrel. If it is a store bought rain barrel it has a drain, if it is a plastic barrel that you converted in to a rain barrel then you need to drill a hole down next to the bottom and put in a drain. I believe you can get that in a shark set up ,talk to someone at home depot or an Ace hardware store.
THX for the info..I talked to my neighbor who help me put these together and he leaves his spickets open all winter and just covers the top so no more water gets in. I guess the freezing water is not a problem....we'll see this spring.
