How do you get the bump out of the shoulders of shirts when they hang to long?

Mist the the bumps with a mix of vinegar and water. What I have done for some of my shirts and especially sweaters. I took some pool noodles and foam pipe insulation, cut two pieces a little longer than one side of a hanger. Slipped them over the hanger. The roundness and extra length of the pool noodle/pipe insulation keeps the garment from losing it's shape.

I agree with William about misting with vinegar & water. Then put into dryer with clean towel. Set to air dry/no heat, or low heat (depending on sweater content). Leave in dryer about 10 minutes and check. If longer time needed, another 5 minutes.

I just use my steamer to steam the bumps out!

Mist with plain water for same result.I dry a lot of my knit shirts on hangers, so I put them on plastic hangers and see less of the shoulder issue. I do run in to it when something has hung to long.

  • I always notice the bumps (I sometimes laughingly call them "shoulder nipples") once I have the garment on. I dampen with water and use my blow dryer on low and that usually does the trick.

I've heard you can hang the clothes inside out and the "bump" isn't as noticeable when you wear the sweater. I have not tried so no guarantee of the results! I fold my sweaters and place on shelf in closet.
