Red Plaid Winter Container

Last year, I got the idea of using a red plaid theme for my winter container from a wreath that I bought at Michaels. I bought the wreath on sale, and used the plaid flowers from the wreath to add to my container. So much fun when you have a theme to work with and can save money at the same time!
The start of creating the winter container
I first started by adding wet floral foam to the bottom of the container. The foam made it easier to stick in the faux berries, twigs, greenery, and logs. Also, the foam kept the greenery fresher to last through the winter.
Accessories
The next step was the fun part-adding the accessories! I used red plaid from a wreath, faux berries, and white pine cones that I had on hand. I like to repurpose anything that I have already at home or can find on sale!
Balance the winter container
I made sure that all the ornaments balance out the container with ornaments in front, the sides, top and bottom! I love using ornaments that can hang from the branches. Also, using large and small ornaments helps with the balance.
Don't forget to fill in the top!
I kept the red plaid theme going by using the plaid ribbon from the pine cones to match with the plaid flowers.
Keeping up with the plaid theme!
Don't forget to fill in the bottom!
It was great to be able to reuse my Christmas ornaments-like these rustic bells that I have had for years! The bow came from a wreath that I found on sale at Michaels! The white bells really made the container pop!
Fill in the top of the container!
Filling in the sides
Finished product!

Sooooo pretty! Sure makes my two large urns on our front steps look sad with the fresh cut cedar limbs and red bows I put on them this year! LOL I hope to have time next year to dress my urns up as pretty as yours was this year! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful decorations with the rest of us not as creative people.
