We have an above the ground pool 24 foot around and about 5 feet deep...we have had a lot of health issues and have been unable to clean the pool for the winter and get it ready. What is the best and easiest/cheapest way to get it clean for the winter? we have a lot of pine straw from the trees around it that has blown into it and also its got a lot of algae, the waters green..anyway, its bad...how about Clorox? thanks for your help!

  • You will need to remove all organic material from pool or it will stain the liner if left over winter. Once done, you need to purchase pool shock chemicals used to close pools. Once water is clear and clean, you use the shock chemicals and cover using a cover that will not let light in. If you attempt to use a blue tarp, the water will be green again in the spring. The only other method is to drain the pool, clean it and refill with fresh water. Then use chemicals for closing pool again and cover as suggested. In any case its not a fun or easy job to do. You may be better off draining it, and hiring someone else to fill and cover it for you.
