Glittering Striped Burlap Candle Wraps

As a wedding planner, I would use these plain candles all the time - they are the BEST - cheap and versatile. You can find them at grocery stores, mass merchandise retailers, and even dollar stores. I found for weddings that these candles met the fire codes, were safe and offered many options for decorating to match your taste and style! I of course take fire safety very seriously, so be sure to never leave a candle unattended and to be cautious!

These burlap beauties are a great addition to your Fall decor...or change up the glitter colors for any holiday!
To make these candles you need: burlap, glitter, decoupage medium, 1"tape, scissors, hot glue/glue gun.
Cut a 7" tall by 8" wide piece of burlap. You want 1" overlap in the back when you wrap. This also leave 1" of clear glass at the top - to keep the burlap further away from the flame.
Use the tape to tape off perfect 1" stripes. (not shown) place your squares onto wax paper or another protective surface/paper. The wax paper peel off easily.
Paint on a decoupage medium on the exposed burlap. Be sure to get some of the decoupage onto the tape for the best stripes possible. (remember to protect your surface - see previous step- I used wax paper)
After drying for about 2 hours (these were not dry completely - you can wait longer if you wish), I removed the tape strips. Let dry completely before proceeding.
Sprinkle glitter all over. This takes a lot of glitter. One small vial of glitter yielded 3 candle wraps like this. Shake excess glitter onto paper or a coffee filter to be able to reuse that glitter.
Look at those pretty perfect stripes!
Use hot glue and run a line lengthwise down the candle.
Match up the wrap to the base of the candle and along this glue line.
Once the wrap is adhered to the candle with the hot glue, roll the candle into the wrap.
Do you best to have the stripes match at the back "seam." I had not trouble with this by using the base of the candle as my match up point for rolling.
The glitter is a nice juxtaposition against the roughness of the burlap, which marry well for a gorgeous look and style.
