Easy Trick Turning a Plain Plank Into an Instant Festive Arrow Sign!

2 Materials
If you've followed me for awhile, you'll already know I'm a reclaimed wood AND old sign fanatic! So I love to come up with different ways to infuse them together.
Most recently, I felt inspired to create a fun, Christmas themed sign, but wanted it to be a little more than just a lettered up board.
Playing around with some wood scraps, my lazy ways came up with this simple fix, that can turn any plain plank into a cool arrow!
Now I can point to all the fun! Literally...
What would you have your arrow sign read?
Here's how I made it...
Pick a fence, any fence! I'm always on the lookout for fallen down fences. This is the best aged wood you can land!

I stock pile it by gathering, pressure washing, sanding, then storing until a project pops into my head.

So, let's turn one of these plain planks into a super festive arrow sign!
THEME

I first decided what I wanted my sign to say. The plank was then painted out in my desired colour.

* Sleigh Rides is part of my own stencil line. See more below.
MAKING THE ARROW

Then, two smaller planks came into play.

The first board was cut at 90 degrees on one end, and 45 degrees on the other at a desired length.

The second board was slipped against the first as shown, then measured to the same length as the first board, INCLUDING the first board.
The 2nd board was then cut at a 45 degree angle where measured.

Both small planks were then screwed onto the large plank end to create an arrow tip. So easy!
DESIGN IT

Here's where it gets really fun! Now you get to embellish your sign into anything you wish!

Now if it would only snow...
Do you decorate with Christmas signs too?

Yes to your question. I think I will make one too. Using some pallet wood that has been collected . Your sign is Sharp(looking) and we have snow this year. Last winter we had nice green grass most of the time. The friends that purchased the snowman pallet I posted on HT took pictures of the pallet in their front very green lawn.
