Can you post a photo of what the chair looks like?
Recovering furniture is a huge task unless you are experienced. I would recommend trying a cover. You can measure the chair and make something that would look nice without too much experience---if you can sew. It's much easier than trying to reupholster! You can tack the cover down with decorative upholstery nails to it doesn't slide all over. Recommend making a separate cover for any cushions so it looks polished rather than hodge podge. There are measurement tools online that can help you determine the amount of yardage you need from a fabric store, but make sure to get extra if you have a pattern so you can match it. Hope this helps......believe me, I have been through this and wished I had made a cover rather than trying to reupholster my chair!
It is a lot of work. You will have to pull out all the staples out of the chair. Get new upholstering batting or foam for the inside. You can use the old cover and use it as a pattern. You will need special tools. One chair ( It was just an office chair) that I worked on had more than 2,000 staples on it. It took me two full days to get it out. Just making a cover is sound advice especially if it is a one time project.
I was hoping it was one of the mesh outdoor lounges as I need to replace the mesh on one... Re-upholstering is more time consuming than hard. If you are handy and already work with fabric and furniture re-finishing you will do fine. Carefully take apart the upholstery- save to make pattern and measure to buy material. Inspect and repair all springs, straps etc in the "guts" you tube vids will be very helpful. Refinish any exposed wood while the piece is "naked" Use a heavy weight upholstery fabric rather than a slipcover material for longer wear . If padding is soiled, smells etc replace, if not add more. Lots more than you think as it will pack down. Use the old cover as a pattern adding a 1/4" more salvage to allow for fraying. Put it back together in the reverse order of how you took it apart. relax, take your time and have fun!
