Our Kitchen was something we had wanted to work on but kept putting off. A leak from the roof damaged a wall so I was able to talk my hubby into doing a pallet wall. I LOVE it but struggled with where to go from there. We stained the oak, added the apron sink and stainless appliances, a backsplash I adore and against all advice a porcelain tile countertop. If I had to do it again, I would swap the tile for concrete…I can always go back. :)

Done!

We wanted to create some warmth in the kitchen.

We started with a pallet wall.

Apron sink.

We stained all the oak with a gel stain and added a stainless apron sink.

Not the greatest photo, but you get the idea.

We love how it turned out!

Beautiful! Question for you, my fiancé and I just bought our first home and we have oak cabinets as well. The kitchen is large and very open so would be simple to remodel. What brand/color of stain did you use for your cabinets and did you stain them yourselves? This is definitely something we want to do in the future. Thank you :)

We have the orange oak too and I was worried it would just look cheap if we did this but it looks really nice! Thanks for sharing. Did you sand the cabinets before staining them?
