Fun, Funky, Free Garden Trellis & Tomato Cage

20 Minutes
Easy
What a fun way to add functionality and beauty to a garden! This project cost me nothing other than what I had in the paint, and I LOVE to spray paint! These trellises became the focal point of my garden and everyone who comes over comments on them!
I used these trellises for training my cucumbers and tomatoes! They were constructed of skinny pallets that my husband brought home from work and twine!
As the tomatoes grew, I simply tied them to the trellis as needed or guided them around the rungs of the pallet. For the cucumbers, I just wove the tendrils around the pallets as they grew.
The pallets aren't attached to the ground in any way, but they are just heavy enough that they haven't moved at all, and they have been standing for almost a year! (I never managed to get around to taking them down as I had intended.)
The pallets are lashed together at the top with plastic bailing twine that we saved from wheat straw bales! It has held up amazingly well! These are so simple to make! Cheap and cheerful!

I'm totally doing this next season! My tomatoes are out of control. I only have 5 plants but we're using 5 really cute metal twisty sticks from Lowe's and 10 yes 10 more stakes tied with tomato tape which don't do a thing to keep the stems up. Thanks for your post :)
