    didn't know there was a male and female squash.My biggest problem with growing squash is is the squash bug that comes out of the ground and chews the stalk from the inside out and kills it just before it produces.Last year I put card board down under the plant and it worked

      @Allen B Wow, we've been very lucky not to have troubles with squash bugs, but if we ever do I'll be sure to remember your cardboard trick!
