Bagels to Birdfeeders or How to Repurpose Stale Bagels

15 Minutes
Easy
Looking for something to do with those old, stale bagels? Here is a great way to turn a stale bagel into a natural bird feeder for pennies.
Cut your bagel is half (or if it's precut just split it open!) and lay it out on a piece of wax paper.
Using twin, ribbon, or jute, or anything type of string that you may find around the house will work. Cut off a 2-3 foot piece and string through the hole of the bagel. Tie a know around the top of the bagel leaving 12-18 inches of twine left to hang from a tree branch.
Grab some bird seed and peanut butter. In my case, I had a bag of bird seed in my pantry closet that needed to be used anyway so that was perfect!
Scoop out some peanut butter and cover the bagel with a thin coat. You can cover the front side or the back side or both sides.
Then dip the covered bagel in bird side, shaking off the excess. Take it outside and hang it from your favorite tree branch. WIthin a few hours you will likely see birds and squirrels eating from your feeder. In fact for me, within 24 hours the bird seed was gone and then the whole bagel. Not really sure what ate the bagel but we won't go there! Read more at my blog.
