HELP- how to make separate spaces in a shared bedroom?

You could create some sort of wall in part of the room and let each kid (depending on age) decide what they want to pant or hang on their side

I had this same problem so I lined up their chest of drawers next to each other, each facing the respective child's side. They had the back to hang artwork etc. and still had the top of the dresser for knick-knacks, piggy banks, etc. Worked very well for us.
For boys or girls?

Curtains on laundry cord also works well, and they can open it up when they want to play.
My uncle hung two door from the ceilings for my cousins (boy and girl)
He put foam board on each side as bulletin boards and a desk
for homework; small 4 drawer dressers one on top of the other and
a curtain between the doors for privacy
Worked from the time they were 7 & 9 until the oldest moved
out to go to college. Had a few arguments at first but that soon was
stopped when my aunt threatened to move one of them to the
dog house
