I love ceramics, sewing gardening and cooking too. I've only made two quilts so I'm not a big expert but I love what your making.
Thank you, and all the activities keep me young and happy
HI,
It depends on whether it is a bed quilt (and what size bed) or a wall hanging quilt (and what size is the wall space). Decide what the use is first. Then decide where your photos will fit. Enlarge or trim if it's not the right size. Just keep playing with it until you like it.
The 110 x 110 fits a king bed nicely up and over pillows.
Are you asking about how wide to make the binding for your quilt? I think a little wider than the narrow ones would be nice. Love your pattern.
Thank you, I am new to quilting this is my 1st.
Thank. You
This is a very large quilt. It will be difficult to layer it with the batting and backing.
Quilting it on a standard sewing machine is not really practical. Once the top is
finished I would suggest taking it to a professional long arm machine quilter. You
would be able to discuss batting and backing, as well as quilting designs.
Great idea. Oldest son is getting to retire after 22 years in Army and youngest daughter also served. Would do the back in camo or colors of the services (blue for Navy and Air Force, etc.).
My dad was the quilter in our family. I don't know the exact dimensions he used but he used a queen size flat sheet for the backing of a full size bed quilt. A queen size quilt took a king size flat sheet. He had enough to fold over to make a border around the outside. Once he used a king for a full bed quilt and had enough to make two pillow cases to match the backing.
