How to install VC tiles over uneven plank floor?

I have an uneven plank floor in my bedroom and have purchased vinyl composition tiles to cover it. However, the planks are uneven and need to be leveled so the tiles will have a steady surface to which to adhere. The problem: there's not a lot of threshold space (meaning the plank floor is nearly level with the floor in the next room, so I don't have the luxury of laying down plywood for that level surface). Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can use to even out the floor so the tiles will have a nice, smooth and level surface for the glue to grab? Thanks so much!

You can't put ANY flooring over lipped or unflat substrate without issues. Just use a transition strip and deal with it there. Many times floors need to meet that are different elevations, that is why you do it at the threshold. The other fix is remove the plank subfloor and sheet it with plywood..expensive and hard, but then you can make it as flat as possible.

Thank you for the suggestions but this doesn't answer my question because I made clear I can't remove the plank floor, and the Levollor product is for use with concrete, not wood. I've accepted that no one might have an answer and will have to deal with this myself.

Go to this link, and then look for Armstrong S-184 leveling compounds at HD or Lowe's. http://www.armstrong.com/content2/flooring/files/60064.pdf Happy Thanksgiving, Gary

Your answer is ply wood over the plank and forget going for dead flush to the join of the other flooring. Pourable base products are bound to break and crumble as the planks flex and move with humidity, then the VCT will fail.
