Picked this up at a thrift store, while pretty rough, seemed perfect for a toy center and hope it will be a great accent piece for a child's room, something he or she can grow with and enjoy... and be safe!
I've replaced the large door with 2 smaller doors as not to "trap" a child when reaching in. Inside bulletin boards & small organizers for needed items. Drawers now replace the lower door and a large toy bin takes up 2/3's the inside.
Trying to decide what to paint along the bottom piece, thinking "Diversity" or something ? Like to give a message of unity and peace? The side will be dry erase w few things outlined for lil ones to color
This is my inspiration for the earth, I plan on painting rather large, coming from the top down to the doors, with international children outlining it.
ideally, the dolls will look more like paper dolls, but this is my inspiration for the children around the world. boardering around the earth.

My brother made something very similar to this for the first born nephew. It became a wonderful heirloom and is treasured to this day. That was 40+ years ago!

This looks like an old primitive storage bin that my grandmother used in her kitchen around the turn of the century. Hers was made of planks but the design is almost the same. She stored her flour, sugar, pots and pans and whatever else she used in the kitchen in it. Every kid in the family slid down the top at one time or other. You might want to make sure you have a thick pillow at the front ot it!!
