    Hi Steven-

Looks like there are 2 ways you can do this:

    1. replace the bulbs with blinking bulbs ( Lowes, Sears, Home Depot all have for sure).

    2. You can buy a "Christmas light controller" and plug your lights into them ( they're about 20$ at stores like Target)

    Good luck!

Strings of lights come with extra bulbs. There should be one with a red tip. You remove a solid colored bulb in its place put the red tipped bulb and you now have blinking lights!

You need to purchase a "blinker" however, there are some lights that are part of the set and there is usually always a difference between one manufacterer and year made and another...the receptibles just will not fit to the shape or form of the bulb's male piece.

There are adaptors you can buy to plug your lights in which will make them blink.

DO NOT try mixing LED lamps with the old tungsten filament lamps!!

I have no knowledge of a way to get individual LED string sets to blink in an after-market situation, unless you get a plug-in, multi-channel, controller (make sure it is rated for LED service!) that can switch the entire string on and off. Somehow, I don't think that is the look you want. You could ADD a string or 2, or 3, of dedicated blinking/twinkling bulbs to get a nice effect! What ever you choose, do it SAFELY!
