BUILT A BEAD/CRAFT AREA

A couple weeks ago I decided to change up my spare bedroom, which only gets used for sleeping maybe ten times a year when a grandchild will stay over. Moved the bed and the dresser and freed up a wall. Got some old file cabinets for $10, some boards, brackets, paint, and one readymade shelf. Painted the boards all white as well as the brackets, cut them to the sizes I wanted and enlisted the hubby to help put the first ones up. One small board I had him cut holes in for the tools which worked out great! Used Cabinet trim paint in bright white on the boards. Removed the handles and key thing on the file cabinets, filled those areas in with cardboard and duck tape and then spray painted the parts that would show with a deep turquoise.
We made a base for the cabinets out of 2 x 4's to raise it up higher so it would be a better height for a desk. I sprayed those with 3m 77 Spray Adhesive and covered them with fabric. Then I sprayed the file cabinets with the adhesive too and put on the pieces I had cut to fit of the fabric. Last I put on new drawer pulls I found in the clearance section at our local builders supply store. Put everything down and then finished putting up the rest of the shelves. Put an extension cord underneath the desk area with a multiple outlet and plugged in two led desk lamps, then taped that to the underside of the desk with duck tape and now I can turn them off and on when I'm sitting there ready to bead.
I am thrilled with how it turned out and it is so handy to work at and be able to see all my stuff and have good lighting too. Fun fun fun. What do you think?
