Look for a maker's mark stamped into the brass and google it.

I've seen that same curled-tail, fish/dragon style on a lot of Baldwin candle holders. Maybe that's who made those.

Lamar I have checked through all the Baldwin stuff I can find on every website I can find. These are no where to be found. I have also been on every antique and vintage website ...nothing at all!

    chinenes made for EU market

    • Mcgypsy9 Mcgypsy9 on Dec 24, 2016

Thank you Thomas but I tried looking up chinenes and it keeps bringing up Chinese. Is there some other way of looking this up? Are you saying that chinenes are what these are called? If so is there an American name for them? I really appreciate any help as I have been through many many websites searching for these. Also, is EU for European?

Again, thank you so much for your help!

The stone looks like onyx and the metal parts seem to be either brass or bronze. The animals are dolphins.

Have you thought about taking them to a reputable antiques dealer to get an appraisal? That is what i would do...

    • Mcgypsy9 Mcgypsy9 on Dec 25, 2016

I actually have thought about that. We don't have any where I live and might have to go a ways from here but I think I will have to start looking around. Thank you for your suggestion!

I loooooooooove them. I have a few but not as beautiful as them....

The handles look like fish or dolphins from the middle ages..... How fantastic.

Who ever made them liked the middle ages..... I hope you find the info you need 😀

Have you thought of sending a photo via email to the Antique Road House or to the American Pickers show to see if they may have any information they can share?

You could try researching Hollywood Regency style candle holders.

Replacements.com is reputable and can most likely answer your questions. You may have to ship one to them for ID but as I said they are reputable and will return your product to you or buy it from you. I have dealt with them numerous times over the past 10 years.

Fonda..thank you so much for your input! Something I didn't think to do because I don't use it often is going to google. I have to say by doing that, I am getting closer to finding what will be the maker of these lamps. Thank you! As far as Replacements.com I live just a couple of hours from them and was going to go there and talk to them, as I will be on a mission checking out some antique dealers regarding these lamps on the way there, I fugured I might as well make a day or two or even three out of it...lol! I too love replacements! I have used them many times as well. I fear all this work will not be worth my time at all but I can never seem to just give in...lol....such is life!

They look like a Turkish genie lamp, made out of bronze and onyx!

  • Johnchip Johnchip on Dec 27, 2016

Lovely. Definitely Mediteranean. My guess is Italian, Neopolitan style loves dolphins and brass/marble. Likley 1950-70.

Try sending a photo to Kovels, they can probably ID them:

I can understand that, I have a tendency to get snowed under to the point that "I get so far behind that I think that I'm in first place LOL

  • Charlotte Charlotte on Jan 02, 2017

I understand that. Since I retired I keep think of things I need to do, write them in a notebook, and cannot find my notebook because I have started something.

Those look old but write down any markings and take your pictures down to a local antiques dealer. If they don't know they should have an idea who to put in contact with.
