Only suggestion I have is to paint the panel using a high heat copper spray paint. It would help if you can remove the door. Otherwise, tape off everything you don't want painted. Use plastic drop cloths or news papers to cover everything to prevent over spray. Lightly sand the door surface to remove any shine. Spray several light coats to get better coverage and desired color. ***** https://www.google.com/#q=rustoleum+high+heat+copper+paint&tbm=shop

Regular paint stores should carry them. You can get them at Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot, Menards. It does look like copper. Several light coats will produce the best looking finish. I have use them in silver, aluminum, gold, and brass. Have been satisfied with the look.

I have used the high heat paint also, fire place and parts of my oven (outside pieces like knobs and door handle and haven't had any problems with it. I did paint the inside of my gas log fire place with it. I am curious as it is looking like that from use, or is it starting to patina? That would make a difference as to what you should do.
