White Ruffled Pillows Made From a Skirt

I had been wanting some white ruffled pillows but they are pretty pricey in the stores and they take a lot of time to make all those ruffles. When I spotted a cute ruffled skirt in a Thrift Store for $4.95, I knew immediately I wanted to make cute ruffled pillows for our home. It may look hard but they were very easy to make. Step 1. Cut your skirt open down one side and lay flat to measure and cut. I had some throw pillows so I knew I would be making my pillows 18″ x 18″. I cut my squares about 19″ x 19″. Step 2. Cut your ruffle pillow tops and white cotton fabric into 19″ squares. I used a white cotton sheet I had. Step 3. Pin Ruffled fronts onto the backing, or lining piece, and I rolled the ruffled bottom edge up and pinned so it wouldn’t get sewn into the bottom. I wanted that to be hanging down. Then sew around the three edges leaving most of the bottom edge open. Step 4. Before turning them right sides out, cut the corners, as shown here. This will make your corners lay very nicely and look pretty. Step 4. Then turn your pillows right sides out. Then lightly press the edges, backs and ruffles. Step 5. Then insert your pillow forms or stuffing. You can find pillows and or pillow forms at thrift stores for about $2 too. Step 6. Hand sew pillow openings closed. Step 7. Fluff ruffles on pillows and press lightly. Step 8. Find their new home and fluff one more time and enjoy!!! I’m so happy with the way they turned out. Let me know what you think? And please come on over and visit me on the blog. Have a great day, Lisa
