DIY Ornament Wreath For Less Than $10

An ornament wreath just feels a bit more fun—and festive—than a traditional garland wreath.
I’ve wanted an ornament wreath to add a little sparkle to my front door for a while. But after seeing the prices of store-bought ornament wreaths, I knew I wanted to make my own. ($40 for a wreath!?) Besides saving money when you make your own ornament wreath, you can also customize it any way you want. You get to choose the exact color combination and size. I crafted mine with a mixture of gold hues. I also chose to make a medium-sized wreath, but now I really want to make a mini version too.
Putting together an ornament wreath couldn’t be easier. Here’s how you can make your own homemade ornament wreath for $10 or less.
Craft your own homemade ornament wreath for less than $10.
The only supplies you need to make this wreath are ornaments, wire and a hot glue gun.
I chose to make mine using a variety of golden ornaments with a few silver ones mixed in.
Here's how to make this ornament wreath:

1) The most important step in your wreath-making is to take all of the caps off of your ornaments and then reattach them with a dab of hot glue. It takes a bit of time, but you’ll be happy you did it. Re-securing the caps will keep them from detaching from the bulb and breaking.

2) Bend your wire into a circular shape and start stringing all of your ornaments onto the wire. Alternate the colors as you go. Keep in mind that the back of the wreath won’t be flat. All of the ornaments will squish together.

3) After all of your ornaments are on the wire twist the top of the wire to secure it. Be very careful not to twist it too tight or your bulbs will pop off. Tie a pretty ribbon to the top and you’re done!
The ornament wreath took me about an hour to make. And, because I already had some of the supplies on hand, it cost about $5

It really looks nice not sure on what steps to do first do you run 1 wire thru all ornaments or in groups and then glue them together?

@Sandy Blackburn Hi Sandy, check out my blog at www.redleafstyle.com for full instructions. This is the part I think you're confused on: If you're using cheap ornaments from the dollar store like I did, you'll need to re-secure the ornaments with hot glue before you begin making the wreath. These ornaments are cheap, so the caps tend to separate from the bulbs easily. You don't want to put all of your ornaments on the wire, then pick it up and have the ornaments fall off and break because the caps came loose from the bulb. So, start be removing the caps from the bulbs on all of your ornaments. Then, make them more secure by putting a dab of hot glue on the cap and reattaching it to the bulb. Now you can start actually putting your wreath together. That's the only time you'll use the hot glue gun. Now all you have to do is string all of the ornaments on your wreath!
