Hand rail

Hi have a heavy metal hand rail that was originally painted white (would you believe) that has partly worn off and looks disgusting. Because it is used all the time (laundry to kitchen) I was going to paint it black. What do I use? Something that won't wear off easily would help. Thanks.

I would sand it to smooth out any rough areas then purchase a quality rust-proof paint for use on metal and then after painting.....hang signs all over to remind myself NOT to grab hold of the handle for at least 12 hours!...lololol. Good luck!

Perhaps appliance paint would hold up under heavy use conditions.

I have a similar handrail. Painted it once, and saved a small amount of paint in a baby food jar. Wrapped a piece of tape around the lid & added a child's paintbrush with an elastic band. Whenever needed, just a touch up does nicely. That was some 30 years ago & it still looks like new.
