Can you put freshly cut flowers in a clear case?

These are really nice ideas. But, years ago, my mom told me that I shouldn't put fresh cut flowers in vases that aren't clear (she said it shorts the life of the flowers). Is this true?...I haven't searched the web yet. I haven't even thought about her advice (all these years later) until I saw this project.

N o, it isn't true. You should, though, keep the vase our of direct sunlight to keep the cut flowers fresh longer. You should also put a clean cut on them every day by taking about 1/8 - 1/" more off of the stem; also put some fresh water in the vase every 2nd day. I also like to inhibit bacteria growth in the water by either putting a drop of bleach in the water (preferred method) or by putting an aspirin or a penny in the water.

I find they last longer in clear vases at my house, because to I can see if the water needs changing. BTW, I have often bought arrangements from florists' in clear containers. I'm inclined to believe like Jackie said to keep them out of direct sunlight...maybe that is why your Mom said not to use clear vases.

  • ok. Color or clear plants will do the same. What you need to do delay the build of batería in the vase, jar or glass. Remember the warmest and sugar will speed up the process of vaterial building.

sugar is a plant fertilizer but you need to put them in freighteR every night.

Asperin will delay baterías and change water and cut the bad section on the stems will help too.

    Try it good luck.
