Can you suggest a good book for house plans/designs?

I went thru thousands when I was trying to plan my home--I went with a pole barn and designed it myself! Get some grid paper, draw out the size you want - be realistic - and draw what you might like. Do you really need three bedrooms or three bathrooms (too much cleaning for me!) There are websites (I know you prefer a book) that offer CAD (computer aided drafting) services and can draw it up professionally for you. HOME BUILDING books never seemed to take into account that REAL people would live in them...! Few of them made sense - like having to walk THROUGH the kitchen to get to the living room? Kitchens have enough traffic without adding TO IT! ha - Good luck either way!
Home Depot, Lowes, And Menards have a lot of books covering all types of projects. I agree with Susan. Home design books are basically a guideline. All the plans are basic which can be changed/modified to suite your needs.
Thanks, Susan, We have done some of this grid drafting and what computer site could you recommend? And you are so right, being realistic as to what would be really needed will be a challenge. Joann
I have looked at Home Depot and Lowe's and their selection is very poor. Menard's I haven't seen here in Oregon, William.
Thanks, Joann
Southern Living has many house plans you can purchase after you view the house. The Southern Living magazine usually has a few.
