The rust was sanded the best we could and treated with an inhibitor chemical. Then it was primed and painted. The insulation is sold by Lowe's online only. It is a kit of panels that you cut to fit and snap in place. It helps with insulation and noise reduction. The whole project took about 2 hours including waiting for the paint to dry on the bottom panels.

Enrique, Very good on how you turned that project around. What caused rust formation? Was there water dripping on the doors?

The garage was rusted when I bought the house a year ago. My neighbor said that the previous owner used the garage as a kennel. So I guess is puppy pee :) confirmed by the strong odor on the garage floor. I bleached the floor to try to kill the odor. Next project is to seal, prime and paint ceiling, walls and floor.

Now it makes sense, all the acid from doggy pee caused that big mess. You did a very good job reviving the garage doors.

Thanks! I was planing to replace the bottom panels but the design style is not produced anymore. Replacing the door was an expensive proposition, specially because the rest of the door was in excellent shape. I'll post the before and after pictures of the garage renovation as soon as I finish.
