Coral honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens) is one good choice, Julie. It's one of the few plants that blooms in the middle of winter and it attracts hummingbirds, as well as being a host plant for the spring azure and snowberry clearwing moths.
Carolina jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens) is another good option. It grows quickly, is evergreen and its sunshiny yellow flowers are most welcome in the early spring.
Confederate Jasmine will cover a chain link fence from top to bottom and give you very sweet smelling white blooms around April. However, it will require pruning several times a year to keep it in bounds.
I agree with using Confederate Jasmine, I love to use it a fast and easy to grow vine. It is a plant that is not prone to bugs. Another opion, if you are allergic to the scent of the Confederate, is to use Carolina Jasmine. It has a Canary yellow flower. It is very showy but without the fragrance.
Our neighbors have some variety of Passiflora (Passion Flower) on their fence, it has purple flowers, attracts Gulf Fritillary and Zebra Longwing butterflies and produces edible fruit. However it died to the ground last winter and took several months to grow back.

Happy planting!
