I recently got to visit Hometalk's headquarters and shared some last minute NYE decor ideas with Cricut! Our theme for the day was rose gold and mixed metals which is super trendy right now.
The Cricut Air 2 makes any decor or DIY project super easy and quick! It cuts twice as fast as its predecessor and it boasts two housings so you can cut and print at the push of one button and at the same time. It comes in 4 colors, mint, rose, blue and gold. I LOVE my mint one! It was so much fun crafting live on Hometalk's FB page! Make sure you check out the video to see the Cricut Air 2 in action!
We made this sweet etched wine glass using some etching cream and a stencil we made with our Cricut Air 2 and some vinyl. We made sure to transfer the stencil carefully with some transfer tape, then applied the etching cream. My pro tip to transfer vinyl onto a curved surface is as follows: once you have your vinyl on your transfer tape, cut some triangles into the transfer tape to allow it to curve slightly onto your surface. Also, apply your vinyl from the center, out. Make sure you have NO air bubbles in your stencil prior to applying your etching cream or you will have uneven etching. If the etching cream bleeds under your stencil, your letters won't be crisp and clear like mine is above. Make sure you check out the video on Hometalk's FB page to see the process in action! I'm ready to toast in the New Year with my favorite pink bubbly and my cute stemless customized wine glass!
We also made this cute DIY throw pillow for the occasion, using some Cricut pink foil iron on vinyl, and a plain throw pillow cover. The words "Pop, Clink, Kiss" are perfect to ring in the New Year! Using small accents like a throw pillow case is a great and cost effective way to add some holiday decor that can be later taken out or changed easily when the holiday passes. My 'pro tip' for any iron on project is to make sure you add some creases to show you where the dead center to properly align your iron on to ensure alignment. To do this, you simply fold the item in half by lining up the sides, then iron and crease. Next, you fold it again in half the other way (so quarters) and iron to crease. This will show you EXACTLY where you center is and make it easier to properly place your iron on where it should be. The Cricut Air 2 makes it SO easy to load your own fonts into Design Space so you can purchase or download any font you like to make your project custom and unique. That's exactly what I did for this project. Hope you have a HAPPY NEW YEAR! It was such a blast reading your New Year's resolutions during the live event! Thank you to Hometalk and to Cricut for making it happen!
