Squirrels verse Christmas lights
-
Karen A on Dec 03, 2013Are you sure it is squirrels and not rats? Have-a-Hart traps placed next to plug ends with a tasty treat (peanuts for squirrels and peanut butter for rats) for capture and safe release...making sure release is over 4 miles away.Helpful Reply

Sandy on Dec 03, 2013no Karen it's squirrels I've seen them a couple of times now, some time this morning I saw a squirrel trying to get the foil off the plug, after they have successes in the past they take the plug with them, today I added more foil and re sprayed hot sauce on the lights then I left a broken set of lights on the ground hoping they stay busy with that one and leave the others alone.but any other helpful hints I would love to try.Helpful Reply

Diana on Jul 13, 2015I had a problem with squirrels until I did the following: I had all the tree branches close to my house severely trimmed back ; and I purchased large hollow plastic, but realistic-looking, owls (squirrels are afraid of owls) and hung them in the trees closest to the house. Voila - no more squirrels!Helpful Reply
