Please help! I have an oval coffee table ,small, that I raised my grandkids on ,they had snacks, played cards, did homework on it. now the top is kind of worn and wavy the rest is ok. I've had it for 27 years it's oak. I'm moving into a apt and want it with me can't give photo thought about stencils, any ideas?

I would lightly sand the piece and retain in the original color

"Wavy" has caught my attention, is there a veneer layer on the top that is separating? If so sanding may not work. A lot of older pieces have a thin layer of veneer on top that can warp when wet or separate when too close to heat.

Instead of stencil lay pictures of your grandchildren on it and seal them. If you don't have room for the table take the top of the table with the photos on it and hang it on the wall as a reminder of the special moments. Hope you find a solution for your table.

You could just have a piece of glass cut to fit the top as well and then continue using it. Just put some of those squishy cushion thingys under the glass to make a little separtation...sorry thats as technical as I can come up with at 3 am!
