Repurposing 'Dead' Mardi Gras Beads #101 - Bead Garland

by Lindsay Jackson
I wanted my Christmas tree to have gold bead garland on it, but didn't want to buy any, when inspiration struck. I have literally 'tons' of mardi gras beads from years past, so I grabbed a lot of the plain metallic gold necklaces, different lengths, and cut each necklace between 2 beads to make straight lengths; then twisted the ends of them together until I had a nice long garland (I actually made 3 so it wouldn't be too cumbersome to put on the tree).

I am a blogger and I am doing a Mardi Gras/Fluer de lis round up on my blog on Thursday. Let me know if you have a project you would like to be included. I will link all pics either to a blog or etsy shop. Rhonda Kueckwww.craftdictator.comobsessiveandcreative@gmail.comThanks!

I have been doing that for years. Hey, why not they work just fine. Sometimes for Halloween I give out Mardi Gras beads with candy just to get rid of them. I live about 45 minutes from New Orleans so I have beads coming out my yang yang!
