What is the best way to paint kitchen cabinets that are currently stained?

    Home Depot has something to put on the cabinets before painting to remove grease, and dust. That must be put on before you paint. After the surface is prepared, the paint should go on without trouble.

    TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) is also a good choice to degrease and degloss in one step. You can also find Zinsser paint deglosser at Home Depot, but it is pretty smelly...You'll need good ventilation for this one...Use a good quality primer, and a good quality oil based paint for the best cabinet painting results. Good Luck!

    We start by removing all of the doors and hinges. Any products that gets on to the hardware can interfere with the way they work. It looks sloppy and can also be a place where moisture can enter.

    They are cleaned, sanded, primed and base coated. If possible, you get the best outcome by spraying rather than hand painting. Be sure to topcoat well. Of all of the cabinetry that I do, ...»

    kitchens take the hardest beating. Quality of products and not skipping steps is the best way to get lasting results.
