I've had pretty god luck with cilantro, the trick is to get your weeding done right when the baby plants emerge...you have to be able to tell them apart from the weeds...If you are unsure the "taste" or "sniff" test works well...the baby plants will taste and smell like cilantro...once weeded out the larger plants can be easily monitored. I would let about 1/3 of my crop go to seed and yield coriander...which is harvested when the plants die back at the end of the season.

my cilantro runs to flower too soon when it's hot out. I'm trying a new type of cilantro now to see if that helps.

Yaya, I suggest you buy the cilantro seed from an Indian Grocery Store, they are called "Dhania" seed. I have successfully grown Cilantro this way without any problems.

Virginia.. if you are still hanging out here on HT, did you have any success? I am googling all the variables about cilantro. Mine keep flowering.. producing little leaves :( Ive learned I have great coriander in the future... but that is a dried/inexpensive spice... I want fresh cilantro! At the edge of giving up and realizing I just have to buy it when I need it, unless someone else can offer insight?! =)
