Gifts From The Garden

I love homemade gifts both receiving them and giving them. Here is a simple idea of a gift you can make at home.
We have lots of white birch on our property. It was easy to find a young tree to cut down and then cut the wood into short lengths.
Once the wood was cut we used a saw to cut each piece in half. A drill was used to make serval holes that would fit our candles.
End result, a simple candle holder to display in your home or give as a gift.

In the future, it might be more earth-friendly to use trees that have already fallen rather than cutting down a young tree. I love birch, too, but find many on the forest floor.

Karen we own quite a bit of land and the forest is managed by a forester and actually has to be thinned out every so often so that the remaining trees have a better chance to grow! The birch trees that have fallen have probably died and I would be a little hesitant to put candles in them.
