One idea would be to paint them and maybe stencil a design on them and use them as breakfast trays, or just trays in general to bring things back and forth (thinking tea to and from the kitchen, etc)

paint it, leave it plain! hang it anywhere, magnet~ notes, mail , pictures you name it on it. fancy up the magnets, little - flowers, trains, boats, dolls, how about buttons? have FUN!
Cover with lovely fabric, add a ribbon to hang it up , stick on a memo pad and use as a magnetic message board.
Clean off any grease or built up residue, then paint with blackboard paint. Stick on a small box for storing chalk.
