Because we are updating basically everything in our new house, our budget is not huge for anything – especially for our tiny powder room. We really had to work with what we had for this room, and I must say I am SO happy with the outcome! It’s amazing what a little paint and some accessories can do for a space!
Let’s take a look at the “before” picture…
The homeowners before us painted everything a rust/orangey color. And I mean ev.er.y.thing. Even the ceiling. Since it’s such a small space with zero natural light (there are no windows in the powder room), I really wanted to lighten and brighten it up a bit.
So, here’s what it looks like now! We painted the walls Sherwin Williams Sleepy Blue. I like it because I feel like it keeps the space neutral while still incorporating some color.
We added an inexpensive oil rubbed bronze towel bar from Home Depot, a floating shelf from Amazon, and some simple comb and bobby pin art work.
I was actually going to replace the mirror all together… until I started looking at the price tags on the mirrors I liked! Yikes! So I went to Plan B… spray paint the mirror that was already hanging in the Powder Room. It was SUPER simple to do – and I’m happy with it.. for now 😉
I kept the bath towels all white to keep the space light and bright. We replaced the bright gold toilet handle with an oil rubbed bronze toilet handle to match the rest of the hardware. It was a simple and inexpensive update that made a big difference!

I was debating whether or not to paint the vanity white, and ultimately decided to go for it.   I like to keep my home light and bright and this was an inexpensive way to do just that!  I used Sherwin-Williams Pro Classic White Semi-Gloss for the vanity, and I love the way it turned out. My main goal for this space was to make it feel bright and fresh and I really think it does! Be sure to check out our dining room and our living room posts to see what other progress we’ve made in our new home!

How did you change the lighting? What bulbs did you use, did you switch to clear globes? Beautiful job. Love the paint.

I love the pictures you have. Did you photograph them yourself or did you buy them. Very cute idea for a bathroom. One trick I found about painting a mirror, take it down, take out the mirror, turn the frame to the back and paint the edges that the mirror fits in. I made that mistake with a 5 ft. mirror in our master bath. When we got ready to put it up after I had painted it, you could see the reflection of the wood in the mirror. Who would have thought!!!! I love your new bath.
