What is the counter made of? If granite, seal it with Dupont Granite sealer or go to a granite yard and see what they suggest. I know Floor and Decor also sells a good granite sealer.

You also have to keep it clean, DO NOT USE VINEGAR it will ruin the counter. Use either a good cleaner from HD or Lowes, or make your own with a few drops of blue dawn, and a cup of rubbing alchol and then fill the spray bottle with water. That is how I keep my counter clean.

Yes, give us a clue: is it concrete or some other man made material?

You should talk to a marble worker and ask for a granite polisher. I had the same thing and choose to put in silestone, my granite countertop was already 20 years old. I say it in case you wanted to change it later.(translated from Spanish)

quartz rocks infused in epoxy. I think, it's heavy and like something they would use in dentist office.

Get in touch with the company that you bought it from and see if it's under warrant. If it is a quartz countertop, this should not be happening to a two year old counter.

I agree! The company I bought granite from said theirs was sealed for 15 years. Again, do not use vinegar and wipe up any lemon juice immediately. Granite does not lend itself to acids.

I've read where you can use a good car wax

Don't use car wax. It will make a smudgy mess.

I would kick up a serious fuss and ask for a refund or replacement. No one should expect to replace a countertop after 2 yrs. Please share what the brand name is with us so we can avoid this!

We had granite installed 15 yrs age after a house fire. The stone co. Used an automotive sealer and said I'd never have to do anything again. 15 yrs later all I've done is wipe it clean. No water stains, no chipping, still perfect. My friends who went else ware seal every 1-2 yrs. it was a wipe on sealer but I don't know the brand.

I would definitely contact the company you purchased this from. I don't know what you use to seal an epoxy counter top (it sounds like the quartz is not exposed?). I would expect nothing since some sealants are epoxy resin. The dealer/installer should absolutely be able to give you advice - and I would be surprised if it's not still under warranty. When our counter was installed they gave us an explanation of maintenance, how long the current seal should last, etc.

Also, where is it cracking? Did something drop on it or does it seem to just randomly be cracking?
