Chipped Veneer Art Deco Cedar Chest Restore

I love love loooveee this Cedar Chest, but it had a lot wrong with it.
Here is an original picture of the cedar chest, the sides and top veneer is mostly ripped and chipped off and un repairable . I had a bunch more photos but they all got deleted due to my hard drive going bad along with many, many more projects i've done. so I won't have much of a story here. = (
The inside was in good shape, just gave it a light sanding for a fresh scent and to get any dirt or aged grime off. Minor fixing on the hinges. Came up nicely.
Layering of 3 paints! I did a paint layering technique for the first time and i loved how it came out along with a light distressed on the edges.
You can't tell in the picture but the top was stained and looked like a dark redish marble. It was very pretty in person.
Here it is! I needed to cover up the siding because most of the veneer is off and looked horrible. This sold within a day of posting! She still compliments it. I wish I was able to share my restoring pictures but this is all I have but I hope you enjoyed the outcome = ) This was done back in 2015 before I had started this awesome website.

Can you tell me if you made the front wreath with build up on a stencil or did you buy the decor?

I found a similar chest and the veneer on top was awful. We peeled the rest of the veneer off the top. The veneer on the front and sides are okay, but have lost the design. So, we have decided to do something similar to what you have here. My question is did you stain and polyurethane the top (which seems to be either pine or ash)? I just am curious if we can achieve the same result. Did you remove the veneer from the top and stain the wood underneath?
