I've been doing chalk board walls and doors for years-way before they were popular. It started out just as a place for my kids to express themselves in an appropriate area instead of all over my house. It worked great! Every kid that came over was thrilled as well! It so easy. Can you paint? Then go to your local Lowe's or Home Depot and buy "Chalk board paint" I believe Rustoleum makes it. It's easy. Good luck & have fun!

There is a difference between chalk paint and chalkboard paint. Please be careful you are not confusing the two. I use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint for all furniture redos in my house. LOVE it. No priming necessary. We even painted all our kitchen cabinets from the builder grade oak to the Annie Sloan Old White and used her waxes for the top coat/sealer. Now when I use AS Chalk Paint, I usually use General Finishes Flat Out Flat sealer because it is less work. I recommend going to a blog site called The Painted Drawer and look at her videos/tutorials for using chalk paint (and others). Chalk paint is not for exterior use. I have never used chalkboard paint.
