DIY $5 Ice Crystal Votive

$5

I was looking for winter projects and decided to use some Ice Crystal vase filler to create a glamorous crystal votive for just a few dollars.
I have had this 3lbs bag of plastic ice vase filler for months. I knew I wanted to do something with it, but I wasn't sure what. They sat sparkling on my work surface in the craft shack for a long time before I finally decided they would make the perfect winter crystal candle votive!
I used E6000 glue to adhere the plastic ice to the glass votive because it dries completely clear, and because I've had great luck in the past using it on slick glass surfaces. In my experience it holds extremely well. It seems like this project is no exception to that rule so far!
It's slow going at first! A drop of E6000 glue, place a rock on it, and hold for a few minutes until it's set enough to move on. Once you have a few rows going, and the glue has had some time to set up it starts going faster. I did the project over two days, allowing the first half of the votive to cure overnight before starting the second half. This way I could rest the votive on the crystal ice rocks without them shifting while I worked on the second half.
I love how it turned out! I only used a small portion of my 3lbs bag of vase filler, and I bought the votive at the dollar store! The project only cost around $5, but it looks seriously high end! The pictures don't do it justice, the acrylic stones really sparkle!
It looks even more amazing with an LED tea light candle in the votive! I'm not sure how well E6000 holds up against real heat, so I don't think I'd use a real candle in it, but the LED candle does just fine I think!

Did you use a brush to brush on the glue or did you just put down a bead of glue and then put the crystal on? If you used a brush what type brush should I get? Thank you. This is a very cute idea! Love it!
