How do I go about sealing my table made from branches?

I made a table with some branches from a dead tree. Do I need to seal the branch so it won't continue to deteriorate and/or attract bugs?

What was the processs you did before you built the table?
A couple simple coats of varathane; seals, and waterproofs.
Use shellac to seal the surface of the branches.
Shellac is the way to go!!
Shellac may discolor especially with natural raw wood.
I'd like to see your table make of branches??? I bet it is unique!
