Tips For Keeping Your Christmas Tree Fresh Longer!

Professional designers have a best kept secret for preserving the freshness of Christmas trees that really shouldn't be a secret!
Have any of the Hometalk community members ever used an "anti-transpirant" spray on their Christmas trees, garlands or other greenery?
Anti-transpirants are compounds that coat the surface of your trees leaves (needles) and lock in the moisture! Wilt-Pruf is an example of an anti-transpirant that has been available for over 60 years and is commonly used on landscape plants.
It can also be used on cut Christmas trees.
Another issue with drying trees is that people are inconsistent about watering them! Who can blame someone for not being regular about watering. Getting down on all fours to water your tree is a pain in the neck, back and knees!
I designed a DIY watering stick that you can make and it doubles as decoration!

I bring the tree home , find a cool / shady place to put it . Most times I will drill a 3/8 to 1/2 hole right in the bottom of trunk , an then put it in a 5 gallon pail , or such , an then spray the whole tree down with the garden hose. An allow it to set for like 2 days . Then shake it out an bring inside , Only lost 1 tree in like 30+ years .They stay green for at least 30 days,,, of course you have to add water daily to the base..
