a couple weeks ago, hubby and I decided to go for an afternoon walk. Well as we were walking the snow was blowing in our faces and the wind was whipping and I was grumbling..."who's dumb Idea was this anyway" :)) and hubby asked if I wanted to turn around.I said no..we are halfway through now..we might as well finish. Well it was meant to be because as we rounded the corner of our road we saw our neighbor loading up a dumpster and from the corner I could see four legs sticking up....I looked at my husband and because he knows me so well, he said..."i will go ask if I can grab it" ..:) The neighbor had no problem letting him have it...and we triumphantly carried her home...and then I had to work out a plan of what I was going to do with her. First things first of all the brackets that were under the top of the table we all wonky so I had to totally undo and rescrew them in right and then she waited. I had an old chair that I found waiting for over a year and finally a week ago I found another chair...so I could begin with the makeover. A little sanding and paint and a gorgeous graphic from Karen - The Graphics Fairy and a little love and something again that was headed for the Dump is not pretty and functional...and honestly, this is another piece I am going to have a hard time letting go.
the finished coffee bistro set. Dumpster dive table and rescued chairs.
The Beautiful table my hubby lovingly pulled out of my neighbors dumpster.
one of my rescued chairs that I have been saving for a year. I had to fix the leg support and then she was ready for her makeover.
the final domino in the plan. once I found this chair I could start.
This was me belt sanding just as it was starting to snow. even the canadian geese were laughing at me..the crazy lady in her pjs belt sanding in the frigid temps. :)
once the top was ready I stained and poly'd it so I could start with the rest
this gorgeous stencil from http://www.etsy.com/shop/MoreThanWordsVinyl?ref=si_shop made from a graphic from the graphics fairy.
a little pale blue acrylic paint and spray poly over the top and this table is ready.
Up close of the Slate CeCe Caldwells mineral and chalk paint I used on the base and the chairs.
Even the fabric was saved. I bought the whole bolt from goodwill for only 7 bucks.
Can you believe this is the same set.
the before and after of the same table... Love that this stayed out of the landfill
