Tip: Quick Floor Cleaning

I want to share a quick and easy tip, and inexpensive one too. I use spic n span spray cleaner from the dollar store to give the floor a quick clean in between moppings. I've done this for years, and it has helped me so much. icon

Is it a product safe to use if you have pets. Your canine and feline friends walk on the floors then later when they may lick their paws, they are also licking the cleaner you used. The ongoing situation can be seriously precarious to their health, and length of life. I use white vinegar and sometimes add a quality essential oil of choice, usually one the has antibacterial properties such as a blend called 'Thieves'. Lemon, orange and a few others are all good choices and would add a nice aroma when your floors dry off.

Spic & span is a good cleaner, I would use it on walls and surfaces that my pets do not reach. If you feel it might be harmless after reading the ingredients, then by all means go with your choice.

I've had pets before and would do this pretty frequently. I was never really concerned with them digesting it, as it dries pretty quickly. I use vinegar on my floors too, but I would bet that a majority of people who use chemical-based cleaners on their floors also have pets.

I have used white vinegar and it does a great job. It is safe around pets and children. It is non-toxic and it keeps ants and roaches away. Also when you get rid of the residue, it does not pollute the environment.

You are correct Danielle. If you study a list of uses for white vinegar it

      is nearly endless.

I keep a spray bottle with half white vinegar and half water plus a touch of Dawn for quick touch ups. This also kills the odor if your pet has an accident.
