Ugly Laminate Doors

Is there any way to paint laminate cabinet doors without having to sand them down? Is there a paint that will adhere without scratching off?

Hi Anne, I find that using a high adhesive primer such as Zinnser Bulls Eye, then highly adhesive Cece Caldwell's paints works great. I have painted laminate surfaces many times this way. On furniture, I "skip" the primer. You may have to just sand lightly with any product though. CeCe Caldwells paints are highly adhesive, and they cure in 30 days like any paint product. But they don't scratch or chip because there is no acrylic or latex in them.

I have a primer that is awesome!!! It's sold at Sherwin Williams and it's called pigmented shellac. I haven't used it on laminate, but you could ask them. I've used other primers in the past, with mixed results. This is an awesome product!

We recently bought a home with nice Maple cabinets but they look flat (dull). I have washed them with Murphy's soap and used Lemon Oil Furniture polish but still dull. What can I put on them that will make them shine but not cause me a lot of work to keep up?
